MoU - Zero TB & UMS




During 25th – 27th of May 2011, Universiti Malaysia Sabah organized a visit to Zero Tuberculosis World, Seoul Korea. The purpose of this visit was to make partnership with Zero TB committee in terms of keeping the quality life of TB patients in Sabah, cooperate with each other in making TB Management Project and participate in collaborative projects and research programs, by signing a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations. This three-day visit program was attended by nine important persons from Universiti Malaysia Sabah which included Y.Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Abdul Hamid Egoh (Chairman, Board of Directors), Y.Bhg Puan Sri Zainab Aman (wife of the Chairman, Board of Directors), YBhg Brig Jen Prof Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Kamaruzaman Haji Ampon (Vice Chancellor), Prof Dr Osman Ali (Dean School of Medicine), Prof Dr Young-Hwan Yeo (Professor at School of Arts Studies), Dr Mokhtarrudin Haji Ahmad (Director Corporate Relations Division), Miss Kang Myoung Sook (Lecturer, Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge & Language), Mr Talib Abdullah Shahni (Senior Assistant Registrar, Registrar Office) and Mr Mohd Zaidie Adilai (Senior Assistant Registrar, School of Medicine).

One of the agendas was a session on signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was executed on the 25th of May 2011 at Hotel Grand Ambassador Seoul, Korea. Other activities included visits to Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA), Korean Institute of Tuberculosis, Seoul Municipal Seobuk Hospital, and the Seoul National University Hospital followed by technical discussions between Zero TB committee and the School of Medicine, UMS.

In addition, this visit was beneficial to both the organizations as they could make a better collaboration as well as promote our university in the international arena. The open discussions with the collaborative agencies of Zero Tuberculosis World program was also successful, which brought a greater understanding and closeness between UMS and their committees.
